It is that time of year again: sandal season. Things have been heating up here in Portland and I have been on the hunt for some new flat sandals. I love a good heel, especially to help me in the height area, but flats are often a necessity. Especially if you are like me and love to explore the city on foot. As always, you will get two collections of my favorite picks. The first collection will include styles under $100. The second collection is over $100. I selected 15 beautiful pairs of each.
I am noticing some of my favorite colors this season including white, red, rose, yellow, and shades of blue. There are so many pairs that provide an interesting pop of color. The use of fabric helps these colors to look rich, like suede and satin. I picked some of my favorite patterns including gingham and stripes. You will notice slides, geometric patterns, leather, and ankle wraps. Other details include bows, embellishments, and very fine fringe. I am excited about the ankle wrap pairs. I would likely wear these with some jeans or a loose-fitting dress.
Another trend I am absolutely loving is the use of fabric. I think this provides such a lovely little delicate flair to an outfit. An interesting trend I am seeing this summer is clear PVC or plastic detail sandals. I did not choose very many of those pairs because I do not think they would quite fit with my classic feminine style. Although, in the Under $100 collection, there is a lovely pair of ankle wrap sandals from Free People that I love. It is such a nice mix of new trends with the soft touch of the wrap.
