"Okay, here is the plan: As soon as we..."
I realized at this point in the sentence that Megan was lost in a vision of The Chestnut's color scheme and was not listening to a word I was saying. To test this thought, I raised the volume of my voice a few notches and said "huh, baby?" In these moments, it’s a little eerie how well he knows me.
Her response: "Oh yeah, uh huh... hey, let's take some pictures here before we leave." I mean, you can’t just take me to a wonderfully designed restaurant and expect me not to be thinking about my next shot.
It's moving day — finally. I'm all packed and ready to make #PDX my new home. If Megan would have been listening to my plan-making, she would have heard our step-by-process for last-minute cleaning and loading up my car. I'm glad she wasn't paying attention, in retrospect, because this was probably the third time that I had gone over the plan. I'm thorough, exhaustingly so. Yes, he is thorough. So much so that I never question his planning. I know that when he wants something done, he takes the most direct and effective way possible. It works!
We will make our way from Phoenix to Portland over the next 72 hours and will adventure through over 1,300 miles in the process. I know, I know, you are reading this with envy that you can't spend that much time trapped in a car with us.
With each pit stop at questionable gas stations and small-town diners -- we will document the journey with posts and photos. Stay tuned; I have a feeling that boredom and the delirium that follows it will produce some interesting content. That just might be an understatement.
